Where we travel

A guide to the Vietnam we love

Vietnam rewards travelers who take their time. The country stretches more than a thousand miles from the misty northern mountains to the tropical southern islands, and each region has its own landscape, cuisine and rhythm. Below are the places our private journeys are built around. Any of them can be woven together into one seamless trip.

Hanoi

The graceful capital, where tree-lined boulevards, a thousand-year-old old quarter and serene lakes set the tone for any northern journey.

When to travel

Because Vietnam spans several climate zones, there is somewhere wonderful to visit in every month. The north, including Hanoi, Halong Bay and Sapa, is at its best from October to April. The central coast around Hue, Da Nang and Hoi An shines from February to August. The south, from Ho Chi Minh City to the Mekong Delta and Phu Quoc, stays warm year round, with a green and atmospheric wet season from May to October.

The art of a great Vietnam itinerary is sequencing these regions to match the season and your interests. That is part of what we do when we design your journey: we time your route so you experience each place at its best. Tell us roughly when you would like to travel on our planning page, and we will suggest the ideal regions and pace.

How long do you need?

A focused trip to a single region can be deeply rewarding in five to seven nights, while a north-to-south journey is most comfortable across ten to fourteen. We never rush a route to tick off more places than the days allow; we would rather you savor fewer destinations well. If your time is limited, we will help you choose where to spend it.
